We are very pleased to welcome a new client in LangTec’s portfolio: a large corporate group with more than 75 locations in 23 countries and over 3,000 employees in the paper, cardboard, and packaging sector, generating annual revenues of approximately €2 billion.

The group is currently aiming to develop an AI assistant that supports sales representatives in product consulting. This involves more than 40,000 products across a wide range of categories, characterised by hundreds of different attributes. Both structured product data and the expertise of experienced employees are to be leveraged for training, quality assurance, and efficiency improvements.

Following an initial AI design sprint, we are excited to support the development team in implementing the first prototype for knowledge-based product consulting. In addition to enabling dialogue about existing products, the agent is expected to take on operational tasks in the future and analyse sales data to provide strategic support for the sales organisation.

With two consultants, we conducted a technology consulting workshop in which key architectural decisions for this complex system were discussed, including:
– layout-independent document parsing for processing large volumes of data
– retrieval-augmented generation: preprocessing, language models, vectorisation, prompting, token limits, etc.
– selecting the appropriate category-specific advisor profile for a given query
