New FMCG Project: LangTec Develops a Commercial RAG System

We are excited to announce the launch of a new innovation project at LangTec: We are currently developing a powerful Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system for an internationally active client in the chemical industry producing fast moving consumer goods (FMCG). Our solution will help employees access complex marketing information more quickly and accurately. The solution will be directly integrated into Microsoft Teams and connected to our client’s internal SharePoint document repository.

At the heart of the solultion is a system addressable in natural language and capable of efficiently searching through large volumes of market-specific content, preparing it for use by a generative AI model. RAG systems combine information retrieval with modern large language models (LLMs), thus enhancing both the factual accuracy and precision of the AI-generated responses. With RAG, teams can make fact-based decisions in their daily work more reliably, faster, and better informed.

A special feature of the system is its SharePoint integration: documents from the company’s internal SharePoint document repository are automatically stored in the vector database, ensuring that the RAG system always uses the most up-to-date version of the documents when generating its responses. This means that the answers generated are always based on current, relevant information.

With LangTec’s many years of expertise in computational linguistics and text analytics, we are developing a custom solution optimally designed to our client’s needs.
